premiere date: July 2003

BACKGROUND

CoooolTV is a stop-motion series consisting of two-minute episodes featuring the Bratz. Not much information is available about this series, but the premise of the series was about the Bratz girls’ adventures in Japan. CoooolTV was part of a major promotional campaign for the arrival of the Bratz brand in Japan and is known for being the first Bratz television series.

According to Ray Mona’s deep dive documentary about CoooolTV, Japanese viewers complained that the show was broadcast at odd times of the night and was likely cancelled for this reason.

Episodes

Because there is little information about CoooolTV, there are no known episode names. However, in June 2023, content creator Ray Mona released a deep dive video about the series in which she provides translations of some episode plotlines via old Japanese message boards. Below are summaries of the plots provided by Ray Mona.

  • The Bratz take part in a 4:4 matchmaking party and the episode ends in the Bratz wearing swimsuits, possibly for some sort of pool party.

  • The Bratz are sitting in a Seiza while wearing kimonos; other specific details about this episode are unknown.

  • The Bratz visit a Zen temple for some sort of training, where each girl prays and meditates.

  • The Bratz promote their single “Show Me What You Got” featuring BoA and Howie D. with a human radio show host.

From Dom, the LookinBratz.com admin: When I first began researching the show back in 2010, there was a functioning website for CoooolTV that is now unfortunately lost due to Adobe Flash Player no longer being supported—no, it cannot be accessed through external Flash preservation methods. In my research, I recall stumbling upon an episode plotline that described the Bratz as having visited a restaurant or bar and being hit on by a man who they rejected. I was twelve-years old when discovering this information, so my memory may be fuzzy; but, I do recall finding this to be a strange plotline for a series connected to the Bratz brand because it felt mature.

THEME SONG

The show’s theme song is “Show Me What You Got” performed by the Bratz featuring BoA and Howie D.
