RELATIONSHIPS

Jade’s best friends are Yasmin, Cloe, and Sasha. A series of short stories published in Bratz Magazine during 2006 confirm that Jade was romantically linked to Iden. The 2007 film Bratz, which is non-canonical to the animated Bratz features, depicts a romantic relationship between Jade and Dexter, a character who only appears in the film. In a 2011 blog on the official Bratz website, Jade mentions having a date with an unnamed boy. Jade’s parents appear in the 2007 live-action film Bratz, in which her mother’s name is Julie. Jade J’adore, a character from the Bratzillaz line, is advertised as Jade’s “witchy cousin”.

Jade has had several pets throughout the years via animal-centric Bratz collections; however, most of the pets do not have major significance in Jade’s story or the Bratz franchise. Jade’s first significant pet is her cat Kool Kat, who was introduced in the Bratz Babyz line in 2004 and has appeared in different collections across several spinoffs since. In the 2005 Bratz television series, Jade has a pet cat named Mica; in 2015’s Sleepover Party collection, the pet cat that Jade comes with is very similar in appearance to Mica. Although not advertised as Jade’s pet, Jolie from the Bratz Petz Catz line wears Jade’s Kool Kat icon on her collar. Additionally, Pursia from the Bratz Ponyz line is considered Jade’s pony.

appearances

Jade is one of the core characters of the Bratz brand and has appeared in a majority of the main brand’s collections, as well as a majority of the brand’s spinoffs. Since her introduction in 2001, Jade has appeared in the Lil’ Bratz, Bratz Babyz, Itsy Bitsy Bratz, Bratz Kidz, Bratz Lil’ Angelz, and Mini Bratz lines as a core character. Due to the 2008 ruling in the Mattel v. MGA Entertainment lawsuit, Jade was featured less in the Bratz lineup as her name, being the only name to sustain from the original pre-production Bratz concept, was technically copyrighted. Notably, Mattel’s cancelled version of Bratz featured a Jade doll wearing a blouse covered in a monogram “Jade” name print as a way to mock their competitor.

MEDIA

Jade has appeared in every Bratz film and series, with the exception of Lil’ Bratz Party Time! and Bratzillaz, starting with the CoooolTV television shorts in 2003. Jade has also appeared in a majority of other Bratz media, such as video games and books.

TRIVIA

Jade is the only character who kept her original name from the original Bratz concept designs. Along with sharing a first name with her witchy cousin Jade J’adore, Jade also shares a first name with a character from MGA Entertainment sister brand Rainbow High, Jade Hunter, who was introduced in 2020.
