The Lookin' Bratz Holiday Doll Guide 2022!
Hey Angelz!
The holiday season has arrived and many are still searching for the perfect doll(s) to purchase! Whether it be a gift for a loved one, friend, or even for yourself, it can be tricky figuring out which dolls to buy when we’ve experienced a huge fashion doll renaissance this past year and there’s too much to choose from! There are tons of amazing dolls from several brands out right now, so I wanted to compile a guide comprised of my favorite fashion dolls that are currently on the market. This guide will be broken into several different tiers to include dolls of varying prices, as well as a diverse range of fashion dolls beyond the scope of Bratz! Keep reading to get the full scoop on what dolls are hot for the holidays this season!
Please note that the prices in this article reflect USD, so prices may vary internationally. Most of the dolls on this list have gone or currently are on sale at some retailers, so prices may vary in the United States as well. Availability for the dolls vary between retailers and some of the dolls featured may not be easily accessible outside of the United States or Canada.
I will only be featuring dolls that I own, so nothing that I do not own will be featured as I cannot attest to those products. The dolls will not be ranked in any order of importance. Rather, the dolls will be ranked from highest price to lowest price in each category.
dolls under $65
Surprisingly, I did not find many dolls in the $40-$65 price range that piqued my interest this year. I purchased and received a limited number of dolls in this price range, and there are only a few that I highly recommend from this category. Let’s get into my picks for the Dolls Under $65 category!
BRATZ x MOWALOLA
Probably one of my favorite doll releases this year is the Bratz x Mowalola collection, which officially came out at the start of December. This collection features two characters, Jade and Felicia, in fashions designed by UK-based fashion house Mowalola. Each doll comes with two premium fashions, high quality floor-length nylon hair, accessories such as sunglasses and a purse, a dress form stand, and a doll stand. These dolls are perfect for established or budding doll collectors as they are high quality yet far more affordable than other collector label dolls on the market. I would not fully recommend these dolls for anyone under the age of fourteen, but I definitely see these being great “starter” collector dolls for younger people interested in doll collecting. These are well worth their price, plus they come in fun luxe packaging! Each doll retails for $60.99 USD and are available exclusively online at Amazon, Target, Walmart, and LOLSurprise.com in the United States, as well as physical Myer stores in Australia. You can read/hear more of my thoughts about the Bratz x Mowalola dolls in my review article or YouTube unboxing video!
BRATZ X CULT GAIA
Similarly to the Bratz x Mowalola collection, the Bratz x Cult Gaia collection is another premium Bratz collector line featuring two dolls—Yasmin and Cloe—decked out in fashions from fashion house Cult Gaia. Each doll in this collection comes with two premium fashions, premium nylon hair in exquisite styles, a considerable amount of accessories from hats to sunglasses to intricate handbags, a dress form stand, and a doll stand. The packaging for this collection is very sleek and luxe, with the dolls being displayed in a storefront-esque box with an electroplated handle meant to mimic a bracelet with charms that spell out “Bratz” using the classic Funkhouse typography. Again, these dolls are great for both established and buddling doll collectors. They are the perfect collector label dolls because they are high-quality dolls that don’t completely break your budget! Each doll retails for $60.99 USD and are available exclusively online at Amazon, Target, Walmart, and LOLSurprise.com in the United States, as well as physical Myer stores in Australia. Stay tuned for a review article and YouTube unboxing of the Bratz x Cult Gaia collection in the coming weeks!
Mini L.O.L. Surprise! Claw Machine
While this item is not a doll per se, it does come with a few mini dolls! The Mini L.O.L. Surprise! Claw Machine is such a cute playset and comes with some mini dolls, including a scaled-down version of one of my favorite O.M.G. dolls: Uptown Girl! This is definitely a fun set for anyone looking for an experience, plus the mini Uptown family dolls are just too cute! I will admit this playset is a bit pricey, but it makes sense because you are getting a mini claw machine plus dolls. The Mini L.O.L. Surprise! Claw Machine retails for $49.99 USD, but has gone on sale for as low as $39.99 USD. You can find this playset in most major retailers both in-store and online. Stay tuned for review of the Mini L.O.L. Surprise! Claw Machine coming soon to my YouTube channel!
MONSTER HIGH GORE-GANIZER PLAYSET WITH DRACULAURA
Monster High made a huge comeback this season and they put out several new playsets to kickstart this new generation! One of my favorite dolls this season was Gore-ganizer Draculaura, who comes dressed in a cute black and pink dress with a cute print featuring hearts with bat wings and lips with fangs, a separate black mesh top with ruffled sleeves, and combat boots, as well as a choker and bat wing headband. I love how low-maintenance and fun this doll is, plus the playset is very cute! The overall set comes with a Draculaura doll with saran hair, the Gore-ganizer carrying case (of course), a comb, a skullete-shaped compact, sticker sheet, heart stamper, and bat wing clip-in hair pieces for you to wear. The Gore-ganizer is a perfect carrying case not only for Draculaura and the playset accessories, but also the various Monster High clothing pieces and accessories you may acquire. Sometimes, all you need is a low-maintenance doll to keep you happy which is why I definitely recommend this set! This set retails for $42.99 USD and goes on sale very seldom, though I have seen it go down to $39.99 USD. Finding some of the newer Monster High products has been a hunt for many collectors, but I have had the most luck finding this specific set at Toys”R”Us in Macy’s stores and Walmart.
DOLLS UNDER $40
Moving on to the dolls under $40, there are a ton of picks in this category that I love and recommend! Many of these dolls find their place between being collector to playline quality level dolls, which I appreciate as they provide kids with playable high-quality dolls as well as collectors with displayable high-quality dolls. Let’s get into my picks for the Dolls Under $40 category!
RAINBOW HIGH AND SHADOW HIGH RAINBOW VISION
This year’s Rainbow High flagship line is their Rainbow Vision collection, which features several different bands who competed in the Rainbow Vision competition held in the third season of the Rainbow High webseries. This year saw the introduction of several new schools and spinoff lines for the Rainbow High brand, such as Shadow High, which have been reflected in both the doll lineups and webseries. The main three Rainbow Vision bands are the Rainbow Divas, Royal Three, and Neon Shadow. Each band features three dolls, totaling up to nine dolls in the flagship’s main line. The Rainbow Divas consist of Ayesha Sterling, Meline Luxe, and Sabrina St. Cloud. Each of the Rainbow Divas comes with two premium outfits, premium nylon hair, vanity cases with real-working wheels and compartments, a micrphone, tons of cute “getting ready” accessories, and a doll stand. The Rainbow Divas dolls are not only gorgeous, but their vanity cases are some of the cutest doll accessories I have ever experienced! The Royal Three of Seoul Select consists of Minnie Choi, Tessa Park, and Tiara Song. Each of the Royal Three members comes with two premium outfits including a band tee, premium nylon hair, a headset, mini magazine, and doll stand. The Royal Three are probably my favorite of the three groups because I love their designs (and song) so much, and Tiara is one of the most gorgeous Rainbow High dolls I’ve ever experienced. Neon Shadow of Shadow High consists of Harley Limestone, Mara Pinkett, and Uma Van Hoose. The Neon Shadow dolls come with two premium outfits, premium nylon hair, various band instruments, clothing hangers, and a doll stand. The Neon Shadow dolls have some of the most detailed clothing pieces I have ever seen on a playline doll, especially the coats and the vests. I was absolutely blown away by the embroidery on Harley’s faux-fur coat! Each doll from the Rainbow Vision line retails for $39.99 USD and can be found at most major retailers, but there have been many sales in the past few weeks with the dolls ranging from $13 to $25 USD. They are all more than worth it no matter how much you snatch them up for! Watch my review of some of the Rainbow Vision dolls here!
MERMAZE MERMAIDZ WINTER WAVES
Mermaze Mermaidz received one of the most mixed receptions when they were introduced back in February of this year because of their high price (originally $32.99 USD for their first wave), but are still going strong with their first themed collection: Winter Waves. The Winter Waves collection consists of two returning characters, Harmonique and Kishiko, as well as three new characters, Crystabella, Gwen, and Nera. I will be honest and say that I have only owned Nera, but I will admit that I absolutely love this doll and hope to get the others from this line very soon! The price of these dolls holds me back and I do wish they were more affordable, but the sales for them have been pretty great and they are a huge step-up from the line’s first wave. Each doll comes with a premium fashion, premium nylon hair in intricate styles, a handbag (Nera comes with two), cute accessories consisting of makeup and some form of a hot beverage plus a cell phone, glitter-filled mermaid tails that mimic snow globes with a color-changing feature, and a doll stand, which is a first for the brand. Each doll retails for $39.99 USD and are available at most major retailers, but sale prices vary between $15-28 USD. Check out my review of Mermaze Mermaidz Winter Waves Nera here!
BRATZ GIRLS NITE OUT 21ST BIRTHDAY EDITION
If you’ve already seen my review article and unboxing video of the Bratz Girls Nite Out 21st Birthday Edition dolls, you’ll know that I feel they are some of the best reproductions we’ve seen from the brand yet! This line consists of characters Yasmin, Cloe, Sasha, Jade, and Dana, and is a near-exact replica of the original Girls Nite Out collection from 2004. The updated Bratz GNO dolls come with two outfits, a purse, and tons of accessories, plus real eyelashes! The dolls retail for $36.99 USD and are primarily available at most major retailers online, but can also be found at some physical retailers. Check out this article for links and more info on where to buy!
L.O.L. SURPRISE! O.M.G. FIERCE
Perhaps one of my favorite launches this year was the L.O.L. Surprise! O.M.G. Fierce line, which featured the four main L.O.L. O.M.G. characters—Lady Diva, Royal Bee, Swag, and Neonlicious—in fierce-ified new looks! I filmed a review of these dolls way back when they released in July, but the footage was unfortunately low quality so I did not upload it. But, I have to say, these dolls are extremely underrated and I am sad that they don’t seem to be selling too well! I do understand that they are pricey as they retail for $36.99 USD, but their sales have been relatively good and prices have dropped between $15 to $20 USD which makes them even more worth it. I would describe the Fierce line as the O.M.G. brand’s ultimate upgrade. These dolls come with a new articulated body, premium nylon hair with wild hairstyles (Royal Bee’s hair is a stunning example), high-quality detailed fashions, amazing accessories, and doll stands. I also love the packaging of this collection as it takes me back to the tube packaging that the Barbie Fashion Fever and some of the Disney Store dolls adapted in the mid-2000s. I always saw O.M.G. as a collectible doll line, while I find Fierce to be more of a collector-esque doll line with a playline price. Again, the price is a bit much in retrospect but those sales definitely make up for it! Without a doubt, I highly recommend these dolls because they are unlike anything else on the market right now! The O.M.G. Fierce dolls are available at most major retailers.
L.O.L. Surprise! O.M.G. Fashion Show
The flagship O.M.G. collection this year is Fashion Show and the doll line consists of four dolls plus a Mega Runway playset. Similarly with the Mermaze Mermaidz Winter Waves dolls, I have only experienced one of these dolls—Lady Braids. However, she was so much fun to play with! I am not a big “play with my dolls” type of person as I usually like to fix them up to display, but I surprisingly had a lot of fun playing with Lady Braids! The main collection consists of two hairplay and two fashion play dolls, with Lady Braids being a hairplay doll with premium nylon hair of course. I loved Lady Braids’ denim outfit—the details on this piece were so cute and it instantly made her one of my fave O.M.G. dolls. Lady Braids comes styled with three sectioned-off ponytails with some braids, but the purpose of this doll is to style the hair however you want. And she comes with a ton of hair styling tools! Lady Braids comes with heatless crimpers and curlers, as well as various hair accessories from hair ties to a bottle of W.O.W. Magic Mousse that reminds me of the Dep gel that the original Barbie Totally Hair dolls came with. I cannot speak much on the other dolls from this collection, but I can predict they are as solid as Lady Braids. The O.M.G. Fashion Show dolls retail for $35.99 USD and are available at most major retailers, but sale prices have varied between $17 to $24 USD. Also, can we talk about the overt Bratz references in their Style Edition and Hair Edition commercials? Iconic.
LULUPOP DAISY
LULUPOP Daisy is a digital K-pop group that was introduced by SAMG Entertainment last year, but has broadened its horizon in the U.S. market starting a few months ago when the dolls made their way to Amazon. The LULUPOP collection consists of both mini dolls and regular fashion dolls that are comparable to L.O.L. Surprise! tots and O.M.G. lines, respectively. I have mixed feelings towards the Mini Daisy dolls (which you can learn more about why here), but absolutely adore the regular Daisy dolls and hope they come out with more in the future! The regular LULUPOP Daisy dolls come with a cute fashion, clothing hanger, booklet, some accessories, and a doll stand. The packaging for the dolls and the dolls themselves are very cute and well-made, but the hair is unfortunately polypropylene. However, the only doll in the lineup whose hair I have issues with is Tania; but even then, the hair quality is not terrible! The dolls retail for $35.99 USD, which is pricey, but Amazon offers $6 coupons on each listing that bring them down to a more reasonable $29.99 USD. You can find the dolls on their Amazon shop and learn more about the regular LULUPOP Daisy dolls in this video!
BRATZ SERIES 2
MGA Entertainment shook things up when they unexpectedly released a line of random Bratz reproductions back in October, including XPress It! Meygan, Wild Wild West Kiana, Ooh La La Kumi, Formal Funk Nevra, and Boyz First Edition Dylan. Just like the GNO 21st Birthday Edition dolls, I was floored by the quality of these dolls and oddly prefer some of them to their original releases. While the lineup is pretty random, it is a nice way for both new and old Bratz collectors to attain sought-after Bratz dolls at affordable prices. The Series 2 dolls are a bit more accessible as well, having appeared in many Toys”R”Us in Macy’s stores across the United States and being readily available on Amazon. The Series 2 dolls retail for $26.99 USD, but are typically on sale for $21.99 USD and have gone as low as $16.99 USD. You can learn more about the Bratz Series 2 dolls, including info on where to buy, in my article review and YouTube unboxing video!
RAINBOW JUNIOR HIGH
One of the Rainbow High spinoffs introduced earlier this year was the Rainbow Junior High line, which features scaled-down versions of the main Rainbow High characters in their Junior High days. I was extremely hesitant about collecting this line at first, so I started off buying some standouts—Sunny Madison from Series 1 and Bella Parker from Series 2. Both Sunny and Bella are extremely well-made, detailed dolls! I had some interest in purchasing more dolls from Series 1, but I did not budge till they went on super-sale for $8 at Target not too long ago. This also spiraled into me buying the rest of Series 2. I cannot say that all of the dolls from both series are worth it, but some of my favorites have been Ruby, Sunny, Violet, Amaya, Bella, Karma, and Krystal. MGA blows me away every time they release a new Rainbow High doll because I never expect the level of quality they deliver. Amaya, in particular, is an insanely detailed dolls with real fabric boots and feels like an overall luxury doll. The Rainbow Junior High dolls are seen as a “budget-friendly” alternative to the regular Rainbow High dolls, but the retail price is still quite high sitting at $24.99 USD. However, these dolls often go on sale and most of them are currently between $13 to $17 USD which is much more reasonable. The Rainbow Junior High dolls are available at most major retailers. You can check out my review of the Rainbow Junior High dolls here!
MONSTER HIGH SIGNATURE DOLLS
One of the most highly-anticipated comebacks in the doll market this year was the revival of Monster High. Having been discontinued in 2017, the brand made a full-throttle comeback with a live-action movie, animated television series and webseries, music videos, and—of course—doll lines. While some of the themed lines from Monster High (such as Creepover Party for example) are not readily available, the Signature dolls have made their way to most major retailers both in-store and online. The main lineup consists of Clawdeen Wolf, Draculaura, Frankie Stein, Cleo De Nile, and Lagoona Blue, with some store-exclusive dolls being Toralei Stripe (Walmart), Ghoulia Yelps (Target), and Deuce Gorgon (Amazon). I have all of the Signature dolls except for Deuce, and I have to say I love this iteration of Monster High so far! The dolls come with cute fashions and a ton of accessories, including fun backpacks and food items. My absolute fave is Draculaura, though I do think all of them are pretty well-made dolls. All of the dolls have saran hair, except for Clawdeen and Cleo who unfortunately have polypropylene. Each doll retails for $24.99 USD. You can watch my review of the core five Monster High Signature dolls here!
BARBIE EXTRA AND EXTRA FANCY
I know what you’re thinking… Barbie dolls on LookinBRATZ.com?! You must be thinking, “Dom, you’re a traitor. How could you? MGA should ban you!” To that, I say: cope. Well, if you didn’t already know, I collect a wide variety of fashion dolls and some of the newer Barbie Extra designs have caught my eye. I am very selective of the Barbie dolls I purchase, however. My top three picks from the Barbie Extra lineup are #14, #17, #19, and the Barbie Extra Fancy doll with the pink pleather gown. I love all of the dolls mostly for their designs, but they come with a lot of useless accessories that I personally toss into a bin but I am sure kids will love. Barbie Extra #19 is probably one of my favorite Barbie dolls released in the past seven years as she brings a fun alternative vibe to the brand. Barbie Extra #14 is also a fun throwback to 80s Barbie and is very aligned with “Barbie-core”. The Barbie Extra and Extra Fancy dolls retail for $24.99 USD and are available at most major retailers. You can watch my unboxing video of Barbie Extra #19 here!
MY AVASTARS
I have been unsure of where to place this brand as its basic doll prices seem to have fallen down to $18 USD at most retailers, with the original price being $24.99 USD. My Avastars is a unique fashion doll “born from the metaverse” and are based on games like Roblox. The main line consists of three characters: AVibeThng, Dreamer3.0, and KawaiiPie^^, who retail for $24.99 USD but have since gone down to $18 USD. These three dolls come with two oufits and tons of stickers to customize the dolls. A Walgreens exclusive, Trackie_O, comes with one outfit and retails for $19.99 USD but has gone down to $12 USD on sale. The dolls are cute and I adore the customization options, and love how they fill a niche in the doll market that hasn’t truly been fulfilled. My favorite set comes with HypeGirrrrl_77 and three outfits, featuring a Juicy Couture inspired outfit that I am obsessed with! The HypeGirrrrl_77 set retails for $39.99 USD, but has gone down to $30 USD. The My Avastars dolls are available at most major retailers. You can check out more of all the My Avastars collection in this review!
DOLLS UNDER $20
Moving on to our final category, there has been a shocking amount of affordable dolls that range between $1 to $20 on the market this year. For those on a smaller budget this holiday season, there are some amazing dolls out there that can make for great stocking stuffer or main gifts—a good portion of them are even comparable to the dolls featured in the higher-price categories! Let’s get into my picks for the Dolls Under $20 category!
L.O.L. Surprise! Tweens
Just like Rainbow Junior High is to Rainbow High, the L.O.L. Surprise! Tweens are the cost-efficient alternative to the O.M.G. dolls. In a shocking twist, it appears that the Tweens may be more popular than the O.M.G. dolls now! The Tweens are about half the size of an O.M.G., but the quality and details of them are not compromised despite their size! One of the latest Tweens series, Series 3, includes characters Nia Regal, Emma Emo, Marilyn Star, and Chloe Pepper. These dolls are just absolutely adorable and I love all of the pieces they come with! Each of the Tweens dolls come with a premium outfit, premium nylon hair, fun accessories including a purse and notebook, and doll stand. The quality and attention to details on these dolls is astounding, but what else could we truly expect from MGA at this point? Each doll retails for $19.99 USD and are available at most major retailers, but the dolls have recently gone on sale between $9 to $13 which is an absolute steal! Stay tuned for a review of the L.O.L. Surprise! Tweens Series 3 dolls coming soon to my YouTube channel!
HAIRMAZING FASHION PACK
Just Play has done an amazing job at creating affordable yet fun fashion dolls with their Hairmazing line this past year! While I don’t have many of the basic Hairmazing dolls, I loved the Fashion Pack set they came out with recently! The set retails for $20 USD, but recently went on sale for $15, and appears to be a Walmart exclusive. The set comes with one unnamed doll and 35 mix-and-match pieces, including tops, bottoms, dresses, purses, shoes, tiaras, and clothing hangers. The Hairmazing Fashion Pack is a ton of fun and well worth its price. I love seeing huge doll sets like this that are affordable at the same time! Stay tuned for a review of the Hairmazing Fashion Pack coming soon to my YouTube channel!
BFF BY CRY BABIES
I was a bit unsure of where to place these on the list because their pricing varies, but the BFF by Cry Babies line is another high-quality doll that I’ve enjoyed this year! The single pack dolls originally retailed for $19.99 USD at all major retailers, but seem to now be $13 USD at most retailers. The BFF dolls come with fun premium fashion, premium nylon hair, impressive articulation, and come with a doll stand that is built into the packaging. The BFF dolls are like the tween versions of the regular Cry Babies toys, which I personally cannot get into. But, the BFF dolls are very cute! I will note that their is a lack of racial diversity in this line and it seems like the second wave of dolls will be lacking in that department as well.
FIDGIE FRIENDS
Fidgie Friends is a line of fidget-themed fashion dolls that was introduced earlier this year. The line consists of Unicorn Sprinkles, Boba Bubbles, Dandelion Wishes, and Watermellow. Each doll comes with a premium fashion that incorporates two fidget features (Unicorn Sprinkles, for example, has a popper headband and slow-foam skirt) and premium nylon hair. Just like My Avastars, the Fidgie Friends line fulfills a niche in the doll market that has yet to be filled and I love what they are doing! The dolls also have a nice amount of articulation despite being more fidget-focused, plus they have inset eyes. The Fidgie Friends dolls retail for $19.99 USD and can be found at Walmart in the United States. Similar to how I feel about the BFF dolls, the Fidgie Friends majorly lack in racial diversity; hopefully they improve this in the future in the line continues! You can watch my review of Unicorn Sprinkles here.
BARBIE EXTRA MINIS
Unlike the main Barbie Extra line, I am in love with nearly all of the Barbie Extra Minis! The line was introduced late last year and more dolls have been produced just in time for the holiday season. It is really difficult to describe the Extra Minis dolls because none of them have names or numbers to distinguish them as separate characters, but their designs truly set them apart from each other! One of my favorites from this line has purple hair and an “Extra Cute” printed on her bangs in a nod to Lil’ Kim’s iconic Coco Chanel hair. I also really love the two new Minis that were recently released, which you can watch a review of here. The dolls typically come with one outfit, either saran or polypropylene hair depending on the doll, some accessories, and a doll stand. Each Barbie Extra Minis doll retails for $16.99 USD and are available at most major retailers in-store and online.
L.O.L. SURPRISE! O.M.G. LOUNGE
In a budget-friendly move for the brand, O.M.G. has released a line of Lounge dolls featuring the core four characters—Lady Diva, Royal Bee, Swag, and Neonlicious—in sleepwear with limited articulation and slim-box packaging. I am a sucker for budget releases and sleepover-themed dolls, so the Lounge dolls were heavy on my radar this season! Despite being deemed “budget” dolls, they are still high quality and prove that quality dolls can be made on a budget. They even have premium nylon hair! The dolls are basic yet fun, and I’m sure kids and collectors will love having more looks for the core four without having to break the bank to get the Fierce dolls. The dolls originally retailed for $15.99 USD and can be found at stores like Toys”R”Us in Macy’s, Kohl’s, and Walgreens, but the price has since gone down to $10.99 USD at Toys”R”Us which is even more worth it. These dolls seem to be selling like hot cakes as they are always picked over whenever I visit Toys”R”Us, so they are for sure a popular gift this season! You can watch my full review of the O.M.G. Lounge dolls here.
DREAM ELLA EXTRA ICONIC AND MINIS
Dream Ella seems to be slowing down on doll releases this season, but her Extra Iconic lineup seems to be very popular at the moment and I completely understand why! Dream Ella is MGA’s “answer” to current Barbie, using themes and scales that are similar to what that brand is doing. I have enjoyed Dream Ella for what it is, but I really hope they continue producing more streetwear-inspired looks because I adore the Extra Iconic dolls! The main Extra Iconic lineup consists of DreamElla, Yasmin, and Aria in fun streetwear designs. The articulation is limited, though the knees are articulated. These dolls are super cute, though I currently only have DreamElla from the line so far. There is also a set of Extra Iconic Minis that I adore even more, which consists of the same characters as the main lineup but in mini form and even cuter streetwear designs! The Minis feature new head and body sculpts, with the head sculpt looking similar to a scaled-down Mermaze Mermaidz head and the body having articulated wrists and knees. The Minis are adorable and such a fun line, I really hope we see these dolls get more releases next year! Unfortunately, it appears that the Extra Iconic dolls may be an online exclusive at the moment at most major retailers. All of the Dream Ella Extra Iconic dolls, including the Minis, retails for $14.99 USD. You can watch my review of Dream Ella Extra Iconic DreamElla and all of the Minis here!
SKY DANCERS BUTTERFLY DANCERS
Sky Dancers has been revived by several different companies this year, but I will be focusing on the Just Play reboot as that is what is most accessible in the United States. There are two new Sky Dancers (subtitled Butterfly Dancers)—Rose and Violet—now available at most Walmart online and in-store as well as online at Amazon. Sky Dancers are a classic holiday staple doll and I am so glad to see them back on shelves, albeit in a much smaller capacity now. I picked up Rose from Walmart back in October, but have yet to see either doll again since. You can check out my review (and reaction) to the Sky Dancers Butterfly Dancers here!
NATURALISTAS
Another favorite of mine from this year has been the Naturalistas line! The Naturalistas were designed to celebrate Black hair textures and styles. Along with important messaging, the Naturalistas dolls are some of the highest-quality dolls I’ve seen at their $12.99 USD price point. The basic dolls come with chic outfits and some accessories, typically a purse. The dolls also use premium hair fibers, and I do believe it is nylon hair. The Naturalistas do have limited articulation, but the quality overall—not to mention the face they are gorgeous facially—make up for this! The Naturalistas are easier to find in-stores at Target, but can also be found online at Walmart and Amazon.
MINI BRATZ
MGA kicked off its Miniverse brand back in July with the launch of Mini Bratz and it proved to be a major hit! The Mini Bratz line features scaled-down reproductions of popular Bratz lines such as Pretty ‘N’ Punk, Tokyo A Go-Go, Twiins, and even some items from the Funky Fashion Makeover and Electric Funk lines! Each Mini Bratz comes with two mini Bratz products and a display capsule. Each set retails for $9.99 USD and can be found at most major retailers, and sales have ranged between $5 to $7 recently! You can read my detailed review of Mini Bratz Series 1 here.
ZOMBAES FOREVER
Zombaes Forever is a brand that seemed like it was in limbo earlier this year as everyone was unsure if it would officially release, but the dolls have finally made their way to most major retailers this past Fall! I adore the Zombaes Forever brand and appreciate that there are more “alternative” dolls like them on the market again. Each Zombaes Forever doll comes with a doll, some accessories, a sticker sheet, and doll stand in packaging that can be re-used as a display piece or storage case. All of the dolls’ limbs and hair pieces come apart, so there are a ton of mix-and-matching possibilities! The single Zombaes Forever dolls retail for $9.99 USD and you can watch my review of them here.
MINI L.O.L. SURPRISE!
The O.M.G. fun doesn’t end with the full-sized dolls! MGA has made collecting L.O.L. and O.M.G. a tad easier with the launch of Mini L.O.L. late last year, and I love these mini dolls so much! There have been several collections featuring tons of different characters from the L.O.L.-verse in the past year, but I definitely recommend the Series 1 and Series 2 Color Change Surprise dolls as they are fun, affordable, and make for the perfect stocking stuffer! The Mini L.O.L. dolls typically retail for $6.99 USD at major retailers. There will also be scaled-down replicas of the O.M.G. dolls coming to MGA’s Miniverse soon, so I’m excited to see what those are like!
BARBIE EXTRA MINI MINIS
How much more mini get Barbie Extra Minis get if Barbie Extra Minis could get mini-er? Well, guess what… Barbie Extra Mini Minis have recently becoming a thing and I’ve been obsessed with them! Just like the Extra Minis, the Extra Mini Minis do not have specific character names or numbers so describing them is difficult. I do love this release, though it seems like they are harder to find for sale now possibly because of the holiday season—they make for an amazing stocking stuffer, after all! The Extra Mini Minis come with an outfit, either saran or polypropylene hair depending on the doll, an accessory or two (typically a purse and pair of sunglasses), and a tiny doll stand. They’re just too cute! The dolls retail for $6.99 USD and have only been made available at Amazon since they released in late October, though I do suspect we’ll be seeing them pop up in stores by next year. Check out my first review of the Barbie Extra Mini Minis here!
Winner’s stable
Another brand from Just Play that has been underrated for a few years now is Winner’s Stable, a line of mini dolls that has been discontinued since last year. However, there are repackaged single pack dolls popping up Five Below stores for only $4.99 USD and I definitely recommend picking these up! These dolls have cute outfits and faces, and have premium nylon hair which is shocking for a doll at that price point! The head and body molds have been re-used for the Hairmazing Doll and Horse sets that came out this past year, but I have yet to experience the newer releases. Stay tuned for a review of the Winner’s Stable dolls coming soon to my YouTube channel, and be sure to pick up these dolls before they’re gone from stores forever!
FRIENDS FOREVER CLUB
My final pick for the Holiday Doll Guide is an unexpected one that just released this month as an exclusive to… Dollar Tree! You heard that right. Dollar Tree is producing a new line of mini dolls called Friends Forever Club, which follows four characters—Carina, Alanis, Iha, and Viera—all of whom are interested in STEM. Each character comes with a description of her STEM-based interests. The Friends Forever Club dolls have rubber clothing, though there appears to be fashion packs with fabric clothing that I have yet to pick up. I do love the dolls though, and think they are a fun budget-friendly doll with a great message! There is also a Fashion Doll Closet playset, which is made for the Friends Forever Club dolls but can also fit fashion dolls and clothing of the same scale. The dolls and playset retail for $1.25 USD each, and are a Dollar Tree exclusive. Stay tuned for a review of the Friends Forever Club dolls and playset coming soon to my YouTube channel
And that’s it for the first-ever Lookin’ Bratz Holiday Doll Guide! This article was definitely meant to be posted sooner, but I was unfortunately sick last week and could not find the time to complete it in advance. I was also hoping to make a video version of this article, but perhaps I’ll reserve that till next year’s guide!
Regardless, I hope you enjoyed this article and got some gift ideas (whether it be for yourself or another person) from it! I wanted to build a guide with not only a diverse range of dolls, but also a diverse range of prices that meet everyone’s budgets.
Thank you to MGA Entertainment, SAMG Entertainment, WowWee, Sunny Days, and Spin Master for sending some of the dolls featured in this article! This article would not have been possible without that support as I may have been unable to review some of the dolls featured by those companies.
I hope you keep checkin’ out Lookin’ Bratz for more articles like this in the future! Make sure to check out Lookin’ Bratz on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok for more scorchin’ Bratz and doll content!
Have a safe, happy, and relaxing holiday season!
xoxo
