Bratz x Revolution Makeup Holiday Collection: A Lookin' Bratz Review!

Hey Angelz!

Before 2021 comes to an end, I want to give y’all one more review of some products that were sent to me by Revolution Makeup! I also have a review of the GCDS dolls on the way, but that will likely come out in the new year as I am still waiting for Yasmin to arrive. Revolution Makeup was kind enough to gift me some of their latest Bratz x Revolution products that launched late last month, which I’m going to show y’all in this article! Keep on reading to see tons of pictures of the new makeup, including swatches of the eyeshadow palettes and lip glosses.

Just like my review of the first Bratz x Revolution launch back in June, this will be more of an overview of the products rather than a review as I have not tested all of the products on my face. All swatches were done on the back of my arm, which I washed off in between swatch sets. The eyeshadows were dipped into with a clean finger twice and swiped across the arm.

EYESHADOW PALETTE VAULT

The new Bratz x Revolution Makeup Holiday Collection features an Eyeshadow Palette Vault set, which includes four brand-new 18-pan eyeshadow palettes that are individualized for each of the core four Bratz girls. The palettes, which are trapezoid-shaped like classic Bratz doll packaging and the first batch of Bratz x Revolution palettes, come in a holographic box decorated with snowflakes and character icons. The palettes themselves feature artwork of the Bratz in their Wintertime Wonderland outfits.

Yasmin’s palette features the shades “Harmony”, “Spa Day”, “Girls Nite Out”, “Extra Foam”, “Stars Align”, “Tree Pose”, “Style It”, “Tube Top”, “Peaches”, “Groovin’”, “Regal”, “Throne”, “Off The Shoulder”, “Boho Babe”, “Faux Leather”, “Take A Chance”, “Open Mic”, and “Luxe”.

Cloe’s palette features the shades “Livin’ It Up”, “Out Of The Blue”, “Secret Date”, “Dump Him”, “Flared Jeans”, “Dreamy”, “Formal Funk”, “Denim Jacket”, “News Flash”, “Head In The Clouds”, “Treasures”, “Cameron”, “Wings”, “Paranoid”, “Broke A Nail”, “Hottie Alert”, “Tell Me Everything”, and “Way Cute”.

Sasha’s palette features the shades “Playlist”, “Strut It”, “Bandana”, “Crop Top”, “Gold Hoops”, “Loyal”, “Keep It Real”, “Rockinest”, “Feel The Groove”, “Joggers”, “Funk ‘N’ Glow”, “Be Totally You”, “Step Out”, “Girls Rule”, “Cargo Pants”, “BFF”, “Let’s Hit It”, and “Jammin’”.

Jade’s palette features the shades “Latest Looks”, “Retail Therapy”, “Fabric & Scissors”, “Your Thing”, “Prom Night”, “Fashion Show”, “Whatever”, “Love It”, “Attitude”, “Fringe”, “Pigtails”, “Sizzlin’”, “Funk Out”, “Hot Stuff”, “Makeover”, “Turn Heads”, “Chunky Boots”, and “Punk Rock”.

Each palette has 14 regular circle-shaped pans and 4 larger oval-shaped pans, not all of which are meant for the eyes. If you look on the back of each palette, there will be labels that show which shadows are not meant for the eyes; these are pressed pigments that can be used on the face but are not FDA-approved for use around the eye.

Similar to how I felt about the quality of the initial Bratz x Revolution palettes from earlier this year, I enjoy them but I do have some minor quips. Some of the matte shadows, specifically in Yasmin and Cloe’s palettes, felt dry and did not apply well when I swatched them; however, this is not an indicator of how the product would perform when being used for makeup. Application method is important when using makeup, so finger swatches are not always accurate in showing how a shadow performs. I will note that I am impressed with the pigments in Sasha and Jade’s palettes, and I felt a lot of the best shades and quality pigments were in those palettes! And just like the original palettes, I love the shade names used. Some of them do not seem to fully align with the Bratz brand, but are still cute nods to the characters and their personalities. I also love how Cloe’s “Formal Funk” shade is like her gorgeous black gown from the Formal Funk line, and Yasmin’s “Girls Nite Out” shade really reminds me of the Girls Nite Out line!

LIP VAULT

The next set in the Bratz x Revolution Makeup Holiday Collection is the Lip Vault set! Before I get into the deets about this set, I just want to acknowledge how cute the packaging is. The cover of the set features the core four Bratz girls in their Wintertime Wonderland outfits, and the inside has a cute display of 8 lip glosses with a monogram lip design that I adore! This set reminds me a lot of a Bratz lip kit set that was released way back in the day, which may be why it gives me a weird rush of nostalgia.

Unlike the other lip glosses released in the Bratz x Revolution line, these are not plumping glosses. This set comes with one matte lip gloss and one shimmer lip gloss that represents each core Bratz girl. When I swatched the matte glosses, I was very impressed with how pigmented each of them were. They also smell delicious, which is a nice plus for anyone into scented glosses!

There is not much else to note about the Bratz x Revolution Lip Vault, but it is a very nice set with a variety of shades. The top of the applicator also has an iridescence to it, which is very cute. The swatches in the gallery show the matte gloss above the shimmer gloss for each girl. The names for each gloss are listed on the bottom of the gloss components.

SLEEPOVER KIT

Moving onto other products in the new Bratz x Revolution Holiday Collection, the Sleepover Kit does not feature holiday-themed packaging. Instead, the girls are shown in their Slumber Party looks from 2003. This is one of the cutest gift sets and one of the most simple! There are plenty of Bratz fans who are not into makeup, which makes this set perfect for fans who want to get in on the Bratz cosmetics train without having to buy or use eyeshadows or pigmented lip glosses.

The Bratz x Revolution Sleepover Kit comes with a sleep mask with a monogram metallic Bratz logo print, metallic scrunchie, lip exfoliator, lip mask, and rollerball lip gloss. The lip exfoliator and mask come in the same packaging as the original exfoliator and mask, but the actual products are tinted pink rather than clear like the originals. I was quite excited for the new lip exfoliator and mask duo because the originals are my go-to lip products, and the news ones have the same texture and sweet smell as the originals. I’ve also been loving the rollerball lip gloss; it really plays into the Y2K aesthetic the brand has been going for in some of its latest licensing ventures!

BRUSH SET

The final product in the Bratz x Revolution Holiday Collection is the brush set. Like the Sleepover Kit, this set is not holiday-themed. This set is a nice follow-up to the brushes released earlier this year and comes in a cute holographic zipper case. This case has holders for the brushes and comes with the same “B” zipper that the original Bratz x Revolution makeup bags have.

OTHER PRODUCTS

Along with the products featured in this article, Revolution Haircare came out with a line of Bratz hair tones that retail for $9 USD each. There are four shades to represent the core four Bratz girls: “Pretty Princess Rose” for Yasmin, “Angel Blue” for Cloe, “Bunny Boo Red” for Sasha, and “Kool Kat Pink” for Jade.

cruelty-free and/or vegan?

Yes! Just like the original Bratz x Revolution Makeup collection, the Bratz x Revolution Makeup Holiday Collection is completely cruelty-free and almost completely vegan! The back of each product lists whether or not it is completely vegan.

The pricing for the Bratz x Revolution Makeup Holiday Collection is as follows:

WHERE TO BUY

According to the Bratz and Revolution Beauty social media channels, the Bratz x Revolution Makeup Holiday Collection is exclusive to the Revolution Beauty and Ulta websites. However, there is a chance it is available at other retailers; this is likely the case for those looking to buy outside of the United States. I compiled a list of international retailers that sold the original Bratz x Revolution collection earlier this year, which can be found in the “Release Date and International Shipping” section here.

OVERALL THOUGHTZ

Overall, I am pleased with the Bratz x Revolution Makeup Holiday Collection! While some of the eyeshadow quality is iffy, I treat these products more like collector’s items rather than everyday go-to products. I am happy to see that the Bratz x Revolution collaboration is not just a one-off launch and that there is potential for more Bratz cosmetics in the future! I was excited to see Revolution using 2003 artwork as opposed to 2001 artwork, which has been used on nearly every other Bratz lifestyle product in the past two years. While I love the nostalgia of 2001, I hope to see more Bratz products expand into the brand’s later art styles. There is definitely potential for more great Bratz x Revolution products if they continue with this collaboration, considering Revolution makes a variety of products from nail polish to candles; the possibilities are endless!
