Bratz x GCDS Collection: What We Know So Far! (UPDATED 12/01/21)

Hey Angelz!

With Rock Angelz being delayed and Holiday Felicia not being released yet, who would’ve thought we’d be getting the Bratz Designer dolls so quickly? So much news has come out regarding upcoming Bratz releases, but nothing has intrigued fans more than the Bratz x GCDS collaboration. Fans were shook when doll collector Jian Yang found the Bratz x GCDS Designer Sasha and Yasmin dolls at a Toys”R”Us store in Singapore nearly two weeks ago. The news even made its way to Diet Prada, and now the dolls and collection are ready to launch! For all of the information available regarding the Bratz x GCDS collaboration, check out the rest of this article for a breakdown of details!

WHAT DO THE DOLLS LOOK LIKE?

While Jian Yang took initial images of the new Bratz x GCDS Designer dolls on shelves and several people have since received dolls they pre-ordered from Amazon, official stock pictures have been published by NYLON Magazine. Check them out below!

If you’re concerned that Sasha and Yasmin’s skintones look lighter in their stock pictures, do not worry! The lighting used in these stock pictures are bright and do not accurately reflect the actual dolls’ skintones, which are the classic Sasha and Yasmin skintones.

WHAT DO THE DOLLS COME WITH?

The Bratz x GCDS Designer dolls come with all-new clothing designed by GCDS designer and co-founder Giuliano Calza, featuring brand-new accessory and shoe molds! Sasha comes with earrings and a purse, while Yasmin comes with earrings, sunglasses, and a purse. Each doll comes in special packaging with a display window. A stand and certificate of authenticity are included with each doll. There is no second outfit packaged with either doll.

WHAT ABOUT CLOE AND JADE?

While a listing for a Designer Jade doll has circulated on Amazon, it has been confirmed that only Sasha and Yasmin will be released as part of this line. Cloe and Jade are featured in the packaging artwork, on Yasmin’s dress, and several of the life-size fashion pieces being released alongside the dolls. Giuliano Calza has stated in a WWD article that his initial idea for the collaboration was to create an “army of dolls", but that this idea was too complicated. Yasmin’s box states that her shoes are “borrowed from Cloe”, which may be Calza’s way of integrating the other characters without featuring them in the line. Hopefully we will see more GCDS dolls or collaborations between Bratz and other fashion houses if this collaboration proves to be a success!

HOW MUCH WILL THEY COST?

There have been some conflicting prices regarding the upcoming Bratz x GCDS Designer dolls. A recent Amazon listing suggested that the price of each doll will be $60.99 USD, while the NYLON Magazine article suggests the dolls will be $85; however, it should be noted that it is unknown which currency NYLON is referring to or if this price will be exclusive to the GCDS website. Hopefully GCDS and/or MGA Entertainment addresses the price point(s) of the dolls soon.

WHEN WILL THEY BE RELEASED?

According to a post made by GCDS on Instagram, the dolls will be available this Wednesday, December 1st.

WHERE WILL THEY BE RELEASED AND WILL IT BE WORLDWIDE?

As far as we know, the Bratz x GCDS Designer dolls will be released on the GCDS website on Wednesday, December, 1st at 5pm CET (Central European Time). GCDS has stated that the dolls will be available worldwide on their website and will be “in stores”. As to which stores GCDS is referring to is unknown, but perhaps they are referring to the Bratz x GCDS pop-up shops that will open up in December at select locations. Keep reading this article for more details on that.

The dolls were initially found at Toys”R”Us in Singapore and were available for pre-order on Amazon for a short time, so it is safe to assume that the GCDS dolls will also be available where the Bratz 20 Yearz Special Edition dolls have been released. Amazon has, so far, made most of the recent Bratz releases available worldwide, so it can be assumed that most fans with access to Amazon in their countries will be able to purchase them on Amazon. Some Canadian fans have had luck pre-ordering Bratz from GameStop, so that may be an option for Canadian fans.

As to when they will drop outside of GCDS.com is unknown, but I would recommend staying tuned to the official Bratz and GCDS social media channels for those details! I will no longer be posting about each country receiving the dolls, so make sure to search on your own and share info with others. You can also check out MGA’s Where To Buy webpage or contact MGA’s international offices to find out if the Bratz x GCDS Designer dolls will be coming to a retailer near you!

ARE THERE LINKS TO THE DOLLS?

There are links to the Bratz x GCDS Designer dolls for Amazon, but they have since been deactivated by MGA because they were posted too early. The listings will likely be active again once MGA/Bratz officially announces when the dolls are available to order. Here are the links to the dolls, but keep in mind that the Amazon links are deactivated and the Walmart link has not been properly updated:

WHAT ABOUT PRE-ORDERS?

Truthfully, pre-orders may be pointless with Bratz releases. Some European fans have already received their Bratz x GCDS Designer dolls from Amazon pre-orders, but that is only because Amazon made a mistake by posting the listings too early and sending out the dolls as soon as they came in stock. Considering that the dolls will be available soon, I would recommend being patient and not counting on the ability to pre-order. But, of course, anything can happen!

ARE THESE DOLLS LIMITED OR EXCLUSIVE?

The Bratz x GCDS Designer dolls do not appear to be exclusive to any retailers or countries, but they will be limited edition! The WWD article initially stated that 500,000 dolls were made, but a source of mine from MGA has told me that less quantities of these dolls were made. According to my source, approximately 30,000 dolls have been made; whether or not this is split between Sasha and Yasmin or if this quantity was produced for each character is unknown. The 500,000 number may have been in reference to the clothing pieces being released alongside the dolls.

WHAT ABOUT QUALITY CONTROL?

Based on stock and customer pictures from people who received the dolls from pre-ordering on Amazon, the Bratz x GCDS Designer dolls may run into a few quality control issues. Fortunately, the only common quality control issue appears to be with the alignment of Sasha’s lipstick not being completely filled in where her lipliner is on her top lip. Other issues may arise, but only time will tell what may happen. The dolls appear to be UV-printed like Rock Angelz and Holiday Felicia are believed to be, and have premium nylon hair based on what people who received them have been saying.

WHAT ABOUT ROCK ANGELZ AND HOLIDAY FELICIA?

There have been no new updates regarding the Rock Angelz release and very little news regarding the Holiday Felicia release. Feel free to check out the Rock Angelz: What We Know So Far! and Holiday Felicia: What We Know So Far! articles for all details available on those releases. I do suspect Felicia will be widely released very soon though…

WHAT ABOUT SWEET HEART MEYGAN?

A picture of the new reproduction of Sweet Heart Meygan surfaced this past week, but there are no other details regarding her release at the moment. Be patient and wait while we enjoy the latest GCDS and Holiday Felicia releases!

IS THERE MORE TO THE BRATZ X GCDS COLLECTION?

There is! But not in the form of dolls. The Bratz x GCDS collaboration will feature a clothing and accessory collection, as well as a “Bratzology” book. Not many details have been released about these products, but they are expected to drop on the GCDS website alongside the dolls. Check out the gallery below to check out images of what has been revealed via NYLON Magazine!

According to NYLON Magazine, the clothing pieces will range between $150 to $600. There is also a mention of accessories that will range between $20 to $50, but it is unknown if these will be human-sized or doll-sized.

Some fans took note of a set featured in the recent Bratz x GCDS photoshoot and wondered if this means a new playset will be coming out. Unfortunately, this set was custom made for the photoshoot and will not be released as far as we know. A behind-the-scenes video of the making of the set can be found in a Vogue Italia article about the collaboration. The set was created by miniature set designer Aleia Murawski.

WILL THERE BE A DUA LIPA DOLL?

No. There will not be a mass-produced Dua Lipa doll as part of the Bratz x GCDS collection. Dua Lipa recently posted about receiving a custom one-of-a-kind doll along with a photograph of her doll posed with a Bratz-sized replica of GCDS designer and co-founder Giuliano Calza. Calza has designed several other custom dolls which have yet to be revealed. None of these custom dolls will be available for purchase. The only dolls that will be made available to purchase, as far as we know, are the mass-produced Sasha and Yasmin dolls.

WHAT ABOUT THE POP-UP STORES?

Several pop-up stores for the Bratz x GCDS collaboration will open in select areas between December 1st and December 31st. The pop-up shops will include life-size statues of the Bratz dolls wearing GCDS clothing, which will be sculpted by artist Colin Christian; he has already teased some images of them on his Instagram! According to NYLON Magazine, the pop-up shops will be located in Milan’s luxury shopping district Via Sant’Andrea, London, Rome, and Los Angeles.

If any other news pops up, it will definitely be posted across all of the Lookin’ Bratz social media platforms and this article will be updated accordingly. This is ALL of the information I have based on what information has been made available. If you have any burning questions regarding the release or need more information, try reaching out to GCDS or MGA Entertainment; or, you can wait for their social media posts to learn more. I also recommend reading the articles from NYLON, Vogue Italia, and WWD linked throughout the article as they provide more insight to the collaboration and release.

UPDATE 12/01/21: On their official Instagram account, Bratz confirmed that the Bratz x GCDS Designer dolls will be available on GCDS.com, the GCDS pop-up stores, Amazon.com, Target.com, and Walmart.com on Wednesday, December 1st. They have not provided a time that the dolls will launch on Amazon, Target, or Walmart, but the GCDS.com launch will still take place at 5pm CET and the pop-up stores at Peter Street Soho (London), Via Sant’Andrea (Milan, Italy), and in Rome (Italy). No updates or information have been provided about other pop-up locations, and the available information is collected from the GCDS Instagram page. Target’s website has the dolls listed for $59.99 USD, so it is safe to assume that is the official price except for the GCDS website which may use a different currency.
