premiere date: OCTOBER 6, 2010

BACKGROUND

Bratz Rock is a webseries that follows the Bratz girls as they prepare for a talent competition held by a popular singer named Whisper. The series was put on hiatus after the release of its first episode, but was ultimately cancelled.

THEME SONG

The show’s theme song is an instrumental version of “I Like” performed by the Bratz.

RELEASE

The first episode “Whisper in the Schoolyard” premiered on the official Bratz YouTube channel on October 6, 2010. The premiere was featured on the YouTube homepage on October 10, 2010 to promote the Bratz 10th Anniversary celebration.

BRATZ MAKIN’ THE BAND

The story idea was centered on the makeover genre. The protagonist would start out as the "ugly duckling", but after becoming friends with the Bratz girls, she would find her own unique style and emerge as a stylish and confident "swan."

In March 2011, a teaser for an online competition to be hosted in Fall 2011 called “Bratz Makin’ The Band” leaked online. The teaser also confirmed a film titled Bratz Makin’ The Band was set to be released in Fall 2011, featuring a mock-up DVD cover using the artwork from the Bratz Rock Angelz 2007 DVD re-release. Fans theorized that the DVD would be a reimagined version of the Bratz Rock series or a compilation of unreleased episodes. The online competition later became “Bratz On The Mic” and the movie concept was abandoned. In 2013, animators Tony Weinstock and Larry Quach posted pictures of a Bratz movie concept they were working on for MGA. It is possible that this movie concept may have been related to Bratz Makin’ The Band as Weinstock wrote on his blog that the film involved the girls forming a “girl band”.
