BACKGROUND

Following the events of Bratz Rock Angelz, the Bratz television series follows the adventures of its eponymous characters as they run their own teen lifestyle magazine while competing with rival magazine Your Thing. The series ran from 2005 through 2008.

THEME SONG

The show’s theme song is the “Bratz TV Theme” performed by the Bratz.


RELEASE

The show’s animation style was introduced in the music video for “Bein’ Who We Are” to promote the Bratz Live In Concert collection in Spring 2005, with the pilot film Bratz Rock Angelz being released in Fall 2005. Bratz premiered on September 10, 2005 on 4KidsTV in the United States. The first season aired between 2005 and 2006, while the second season aired in 2008 internationally. The season one episodes “Crush in a Rush” and “Pet Show” were released on the Bratz Rock Angelz and Bratz Genie Magic DVDs, respectively. The season two episode “Miss Fortune” premiered in the United States in April 2008 alongside the theatrical release of the film Bratz Girlz Really Rock. In 2009, the first and second seasons were released in the Australian DVD sets “OMG! Collection” and “Stylin’! Collection”, respectively. Due to fan demand, MGA began releasing season two episodes on DVD starting in 2011 with the BFF and Good Vibes DVDs, then in 2012 with the Bratz Desert Jewelz DVD, and again in 2014 with the Classicz Friendship Is Always In Style DVD. In 2013, MGA released a compilation of the season one episodes “Paris I: Bratz in Playland”, “Paris II: Bratz in Franceland”, and “Paris III: Bratz in Ragland” under the title Bratz Go To Paris: The Movie.


TRIVIA

In some countries, the films Bratz Rock Angelz, Bratz Genie Magic, Bratz Kidz Fairy Tales, Bratz Girlz Really Rock, and Bratz Babyz Save Christmas were split into multiple episodes and released as part of the Bratz television series. Some of these split episodes were released on DVD in international territories and some split episodes can be found on the official Bratz YouTube channel.

ACCOLADES

Bratz composer Matthew Gerard was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition in 2007.
